Mallorca is the largest and most popular island of the Balearic Islands, located off the east coast of Spain. It is famous for its sunny climate, sandy beaches, turquoise water, and dramatic mountains.
We spent a week exploring Mallorca and we were amazed by the variety of experiences and sights that it offered. Here are some of the highlights of our trip:
We started our journey in Palma, the capital and largest city of Mallorca. We admired the Gothic cathedral, the royal palace, and the old town. We also enjoyed shopping, dining, and nightlife at the trendy areas of Paseo Maritimo and Santa Catalina.
• From Palma, we took a train to Soller, a charming town nestled in a valley surrounded by orange groves and olive trees. We visited the modernist museum, the botanical garden, and the port. We also took a tram to Deia, a picturesque village that was home to many artists and writers.
• Next, we headed to Valldemossa, a beautiful village that boasts of its cultural and historical heritage. We visited the Carthusian monastery, where Chopin and George Sand spent a winter. We also explored the birthplace of Santa Catalina Thomas, the patron saint of Mallorca.
• Finally, we ended our trip in Alcudia, a coastal town that offers both history and nature. We explored the Roman ruins, the medieval walls, and the church. We also relaxed at the stunning beaches of Playa de Muro and Playa de Alcudia.
