We spent two weeks travelling around Panay Island and we were amazed by the variety of experiences and sights that it offered. Here are some of the highlights of our trip:
We started our journey in Aklan, the home of Boracay, one of the most famous and beautiful beaches in the world. We enjoyed swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling in the crystal-clear water and white sand. We also tried some water sports like parasailing, jet skiing, and banana boat riding. We witnessed the stunning sunset and joined the vibrant nightlife at the beach bars and clubs.
From Aklan, we took a boat to Antique, a province known for its natural wonders and cultural heritage. We visited the Malumpati Cold Spring, a refreshing pool of blue-green water surrounded by lush vegetation. We also went to the Bugtong Bato Falls, a series of cascading waterfalls that offer a scenic view and a relaxing massage. We learned about the history and traditions of the local people at the Museo de Tibiao and the Binirayan Festival Park.
Next, we headed to Capiz, a province famous for its seafood and handicrafts. We savored the delicious dishes made from oysters, crabs, shrimps, and fish at the Roxas City Seafood Plaza. We also admired the craftsmanship and creativity of the local artisans at the Capiz Shell Craft Center. We visited some historical landmarks like the Roxas City Bridge, the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, and the Birthplace of Manuel Roxas.
Finally, we ended our trip in Iloilo, a province that boasts of its colonial architecture and cuisine. We explored some of the heritage sites like the Jaro Cathedral, the Molo Church, and the Casa Real de Iloilo. We also tasted some of the famous delicacies like La Paz Batchoy, Pancit Molo, and Biscocho. We experienced the festive spirit and colorful costumes of the Dinagyang Festival, one of the most celebrated events in the country.
Our travelling experience in Panay Island was truly unforgettable. We were able to appreciate the diversity and beauty of nature, culture, and adventure that this island has to offer.
